A Kilgetty couple's holiday got off to a great start yesterday when they scooped £30,000 with People's Postcode Lottery.

Lucky Kevin and Dee McGowan were visiting their daughter Sarah in Staffordshire when People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Scott Quinnell surprised them with a substantial cheque.

Their postcode, SA68 0XT, was drawn as this week's Street Prize winner - the first time a Welsh postcode has won the £30,000 prize pot.

A delighted Dee said: "What a shock! We were expecting to win a couple of thousand pounds, so this was a wonderful surprise. When my husband first signed up, I told him not to bother, but now I'm really glad he did."

The couple were in the Midlands to see their two daughters and grandchildren before heading to Lowestoft in Suffolk for a holiday. They are planning to save up their winnings for a rainy day.

Rugby legend Scott Quinnell couldn't have been happier for this week's winners. He said: "I'm thrilled for Kevin and Dee who are first big winners in Wales. What a great way to kick-off their holiday.

"And as well as winning a prize themselves, they are also supporting local charities right here in Wales, as 40p from every ticket goes to Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres and Missing People."
