A four-year-old boy and his family will be striding out on a fund-raising walk on Sunday in thanks for the care he received at the Children's Hospital for Wales. When he was eight months old, Joshua Williams-Davies underwent a six-hour operation at the hospital in Cardiff to correct a kidney condition called hydronephrosis. "It amazed us how Joshua was looked after so well by all of the nursing and medical staff," said his dad, Nick Davies. "The surgery that was involved is simply awesome, and we are forever indebted to the skills of the teams of doctors and nurses at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales." Together with his dad, mum Sian and two-year-old brother Harri, Joshua is taking part in the Noah's Ark charity Family Fun Walk 2014 in Cardiff Bay. Joshua, who lives in Spring Gardens, Whitland, is a reception class pupils in the town's Ysgol Llys Hywel. He is the grandson of Wyn and Pat Williams, of Whitland, and the Rev. John and Mrs. Pat Davies, of Milford Haven. The youngster made a full recovery from his major op and, though still monitored by the paediatric team at the West Wales General Hospital, Carmarthen, he has suffered no ill effects. It is hoped that by the time he is 10-years-old, he will be discharged completely. His family have set a minimum target of £200 for their fund-raising, and would welcome donations through the JustGiving website via http://www.justgiving.com/Nick-Davies11">www.justgiving.com/Nick-Davies11 or by texting NACH50 followed by £1, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070. This is a free service regardless of network. "We are aiming to raise as much as possible for this superb charity," said Mr. Davies.
