With the Jazz Radio Tatung Tenby and District Darts League season drawing to a close, a number of knockout competitions have reached a climax in the past week or so.

B. ROBERTS

CHAMPIONS CUP

This was played at Tenby RFC on Wednesday, April 25, and was due to be contested between the winners and runners-up of the two divisions.

Disappointingly, only three of the four teams turned up, with division two winners Castle failing to field a side.

In the first of the semi-finals, division one winners RAOB defeated the division two runners-up New Inn 5-3.

They then went on to meet the Parsonage in the final, the St. Florence side having had the benefit of a walkover in their semi against the absent Castle.

It proved a closely fought final, with the delighted Parsonage this time getting the better of the new league champions with a 5-3 victory.

During the match, P. Greenwood, of the Parsonage, chalked up a maximum 180, while team-mate S. Hughes slotted a fine 125 finish.

J. WARLOW SHIELD

The final of the J. Warlow Shield, a knockout for division two teams, was played at the Swanlake Inn on Friday.

Winners were the New Inn who defeated St. Florence rivals the Sun Inn, 5-2.

A. WILLIAMS

1001 KO SHIELD

On the same night, the A. Williams 1001 Knockout Shield reached its conclusion at the Woodridge.

In the semi-finals, Tenby RFC defeated the Parsonage 3-1, while the Jeffreyston Inn recorded a similar success against the Swanlake.

The Jeff had no answer to the RFC in the final, however, with the Tenby side running out convincing 4-1 winners.

FINALS NIGHT

The league's finals and presentation night will be held at the DSS Club on Friday, May 11, starting at 8 pm.

SUPER LEAGUE

Tenby travelled away for their last game of the season against Haverfordwest B, and had to do so with a weakened team, with both Tony Thomas and Jeremy Hughes being unavailable.

Opening the proceedings, John Williams (Swanlake), making only his second appearance, put up a good performance before going down 3-2.

Skipper Jim Williams also lost 3-1, but fine performances by Ray Muskett (won 3-1), Rob Thomas (won 3-1) and Andy Williams (won 3-0) saw Tenby eventually take the match 3-2 and end up a creditable third place in the league.

Any players wishing to play Super League next season are asked to contact the captain, Jim Williams, for details.
