The sun was just beginning to rise on the horizon as more than 1,800 athletes plunged into Tenby's North Bay early last Sunday morning for the start of the third Ironman Wales event in the town. And after an exhausting, but memorable day, it certainly seemed to be still shining on Scott Neyedli (below) as he crossed the finishing line on the Esplanade over nine hours later, to become the first Briton to win this simply stunning event. Once again the 'super-human' triathlon, featuring a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and finally a 26.2 mile marathon run, provided a tremendous spectacle throughout South Pembrokeshire, with large crowds lining the routes to cheer on the competitors.
