Bierspool Cycles’ sponsored athlete for Ironman Wales this year is Stewart Pearce.

We want to tell you a little bit about this chap, as quite frankly we think he is an inspiration!

Back in 2008, our friendly neighbourhood butcher (who works in Heywoods Butchers in Saundersfoot) weighed a whopping 24 stones! Nowadays he’s down to a trim 14 stone.

The pictures show just how Stewart has turned his life around from being in the pub to running ultra marathons in his spare time!

Stewart’s first half marathon was back in 2011 and he hasn’t looked back since. From then on it was full-on marathons and ultra marathons, tackling ultra running in the highs of 70 miles and over!

Bierspool Cycles have not only watched Stewart gain strength and speed on the bike, but also in his swimming, which is quite astonishing, as he only learned to swim front crawl this year!
