Proving that classical music is never stuffy, when the International School of Chamber Music gathers at Rhosygilwen this summer for five days of intense music coaching and public performances, there will also be time for students and tutors to let their hair down at a final concert and party!

Natalie Clein is a classical cellist who combines traditional repertoire with experimental pieces.

At 16, she won the title of BBC Young Musician of the Year and has released five albums.

A fan of West Wales, Natalie has performed here twice already this year (Rhosygilwen in May, St. David's Festival in June) and is honorary patron of the school.

She said: "It's a great pleasure for me to be coming back to beautiful Rhosygilwen and to be part of the vibrant energy of the Summer School."

Cellist Daniel Davies, of Newport, added: "It's an intense musical experience to be coached by her. Her insights are invaluable and it's a real pleasure to work with her."

The International School runs from August 10-14. Daily master-classes of small groups are tutored by members of the Archduke Piano Trio of London. You are invited to come and observe at minimal cost (£4). And if you can't tear yourself away, home-grown produce meals are served in the Orangery at lunch and supper.

Natalie Clein's master-classes are on Saturday and Sunday morning, August 13-14, from 10 am - 1 pm. They are a wonderful opportunity for 'cello teachers, cello pupils and their parents to enjoy this inspirational performer and teacher (£10 adults, £5 under 18s).

This year, the International School features three public concerts The Archduke Piano Trio on Wednesday, August 10 (Rhosygilwen, 8 pm, £15/ £12) playing Mendelssohn, Schubert and Beethoven; a student concert at St. Mary's Church Newport, on Friday, August 13 (£8/£6/under 18s free); and the final night concert (Rhosygilwen 5 pm, £8, under 18s free), followed by a meal (£10) and party for all friends and family (fancy dress optional). Come and enjoy a magical musical experience.
