Whitland A have moved into second place in the Nick Evans The Cricket Shop, Pembrokeshire Indoor Cricket League, by winning their local derby against the Whitland B team at the Meads Leisure Centre, Milford Haven.

In a comparatively low scoring match, Whitland A team were restricted to a total of 98 for 4. Dave Lee, the A team skipper, retired on 26, but on his return to the wicket, he added seven more runs to reach 33 not out.

Paul Davies produced his full array of shots in support with 33 not out and teenager Iestyn Scourfield backed up with 27.

As expected, the Whitland B made every effort to win the match, but wickets fell in the process and they were bowled out for 85.

The B team could not have had a better start, as the opening pair Matthew Davies and Kevin Pearce scored 45 in an unbroken stand from the first five overs.

Paul Davies broke the partnership when Kevin Pearce was caught by Dave Lee for 20 and afterwards wickets fell at regular intervals.

Davies scored 42 in two visits to the crease, before he was caught by Carl Smith off the bowling of Dave Lee. The openers lacked the necessary support, as the only other B team batsman in double figures was Nathan Evans with 15.

Iestyn Scourfield demonstrated his all-round ability by picking up two wickets for the A team.

St. Florence were due to be in action on the same day against both of the Whitland teams, but unfortunately failed to raise a side once again.
