Pembrokeshire County
Council plans to carry out road
resurfacing and footway
improvement work in
Saundersfoot early in the New
Year.
The resurfacing work forms
part of the council's capital
carriageway strengthening
Improvement work
at Saundersfoot
programme.
In addition, over £500,000 is
to be spent on providing safe
walking and cycling routes in
the village.
The work is the result of a
successful bid for Safe Routes
in Communities funding from
the National Assembly.
The schemes focus on new
and improved footways, safe
crossings, shelters, cycle racks
and traffic calming measures
in Saundersfoot.
Unfortunately, the work will
entail some disruption to roads
in the area and around
Saundersfoot Primary School.
Pupils have been given letters
to take home to parents
outlining the work due to be
carried out.
During the week of January
4-8, resurfacing work will take
place on Cambrian Terrace and
Milford Street. Works in this
week will be relatively light,
but may cause delays in getting
to school.
From January 11 onwards,
major works will start on
Church Terrace, Wogan
Terrace and Francis Lane. This
will involve closure of either
Wogan Terrace or Church
Terrace, with two-way traffic
lights to divert traffic along the
other road.
The closures should only
occur between 9.20 am and
2.45 pm, but this cannot be
guaranteed. All-day closures
may also occur at weekends
and over the February halfterm.
During closures, motorists
are advised to be prepared for
long delays and are urged to
use alternative routes wherever
possible.
The work is being carried out
by Alun Griffiths (Contractors)
Ltd., and is estimated to be
completed in around 12 weeks.
