The Pembrokeshire Flower Arrangers Competition held at The National Trust's Colby Woodland Gardens, Amroth, attracted a high standard of entries again this year.
The overall winner, Mrs. Jo Lawrence, of Pembroke, impressed the judges with a vibrant and beautifully executed display depicting The Golden Wedding. Second in this category was Mrs. Jamieson, also of Pembroke, with third prize going to Mrs. Margaret James, of Cosheston.
The Petite Class was titled Golden Ring. The interpretation of this theme varied from a cleverly interpreted and balanced entry from Mrs. James, of Cosheston, winning her first prize, to exquisitely detailed entries such as the one from Mrs. Wendy Bell, of Saundersfoot, giving her second place, and simplicity its self in shape and style won a third for Mrs. Winifred Tunster, of Amroth.
The Dried or Silk Flower category invited an interpretation of Jubilee Celebrations. This class only attracted one entry, but the outstanding display by Jan Griffiths, of Saundersfoot, depicting Royal Fireworks was a first class entry which everyone admired.
The junior My Garden was won by Lilly Williams, of Angle, with a planted display of succulents decorated with shells and pebbles. The judges were especially impressed with the obvious forethought and design that had been put into this entry.
The horticultural weekend finished on Sunday with the Well Bred Plant Fair. In spite of the misty drizzle, crowds flocked to take advantage of so many good nurseries gathered in one place and brisk business dispelled the gloom of the day.
The National Trust is grateful to everyone who supported the event, all proceeds going towards the work of caring for and protecting Pembrokeshire's precious coast and countryside.
