Santa made his annual visit to Pembroke last Friday evening where, despite the heavy rain, he was welcomed by a huge crowd of excited youngsters.
The switch was flicked in St. Michael's Church by Santa, assisted by the Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Aden Brinn, and the Rev. Canon Roger Jones.
Prior to the arrival of an exuberant Santa, the crowd was entertained by local entertainer Neil Thomas and following the switch-on, festivities continued with carol singing and children receiving a gift from Santa. Refreshments were provided by the kind ladies of St. Michael's Church.
Town clerk, Hugh Colley, commented afterwards that a great deal of effort had gone into arranging the event, but the compliments received from members of the public had made it all worthwhile.
Before returning to Lapland, a very happy Santa commented that he was delighted with the lovely welcome he received from the people of Pembroke and wished everyone a happy Christmas.
