Increases to car park charges in Tenby are to come in from February of next year, town councillors were told this week.

Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, town clerk, Andrew Davies, said that the changes would come in from February 1, 2015.

"The charges are going up 50 per cent in Tenby it seems, that's basically an extra £1 that isn't going to be spent in the town's shops and businesses, which is outrageous," remarked Clr. Lawrence Blackhall.

"The rates of increase in Tenby are much greater and disproportionate compared to the rest of the county," he added, with Mr. Davies confirming this opinion.

"Clr. Blackhall is right, the cost of parking on the Commons in Pembroke is £1.50 per day, which amounts to the same cost as parking at Tenby's multi-storey car park for four hours," he added.

"We're a cash cow for the county council here in Tenby, and we object!" commented Clr. Will Rossiter.
