On Sunday morning the pastor, Rev. Peter Richmond, was invited to Solva to speak at a united Benefice Eucharist about persecuted Christians - the nature of the problem and what can be done to help the church family worldwide.

The evening service in Tenby combined this theme with a reading from the book of Acts. The pastor quoted a headline in the Evangelical Times, expressing how the power of the cross continues to attract opposition. He commended a craft club in Solva, who are using their needlecraft skills to produce 'baby packs' for orphanages. The eight ladies have so far achieved sending 75 packs and have also raised in excess of £1,000. They will be holding a coffee morning in the Memorial Hall, Solva at 11 am tomorrow (Saturday).

"We can't solve the world's problems," said Peter, "but we can make all the difference for one or two people at a time.

"The love of money can be a hindrance, even in the Church, but Barnabus, a Levite, a Jew from Cyprus, gave up some of his land for his community," continued the pastor.

"At that time all the believers were one in heart and mind. They shared as they saw need. In the same way, you are giving encouragement by what you do and who you are," he addressed his congregation.

This Sunday's service takes place at 6 pm in the Avenue Centre, Tenby. Telephone 01646 681805 or visit http://www.hesed.co.uk">www.hesed.co.uk for further details.
