When it came to helping to raise funds for the Noah's Ark Appeal to build the only children's hospital in Wales, pupils at Tenby Junior School really took things to heart.
In conjunction with Ian Botham's visit to Tenby during his epic 229-mile walk through Wales for the Noah's Ark Appeal, the Tenby children put their best feet forward and raised the fantastic total of £2,168.
The money was amassed by raising sponsorship money for 'PC' - the school meals healthy eating cartoon-style character - who was given special permission to join Botham and fellow cricket legend Mike Gatting on the last section of their walk into Tenby.
'PC' had been following a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, salad and pasta in school in preparation for the walk, as well as undertaking intensive training sessions with Year Six class teacher Andrew Williams, who at all times accompained PC!
An incentive scheme for the children to raise as much money was made possible by local businesses and suppliers who donated gifts for the children who raised the most sponsorship money.
The school is particularly grateful to: Clarice Toy Shop; Yorkshire Building Society, Tenby; Abbey National, Tenby; Royal Playhouse Cinema; Folly Farm; Heatherton; Oakwood; Texaco; Skelfayre; RAC Kitchen Fitters: Tesco, Pembroke Dock; Tenby Leisure Centre; Tenby Newsagency, Westgate House, South Parade, Tenby; and Nestlé.
