A Pembroke Dock care worker has been recognised for their outstanding contribution during the past year at the annual Shaw Star Awards 2025.

The 16th Shaw healthcare national awards ceremony took place at The Tortworth Court Hotel in Gloucestershire on Thursday, November 20 and was hosted by actor, writer and explorer, Brian Blessed OBE.

Claire Harris, a Support Worker at Cartref Cleddau, won the Wellness, Happiness, and Kindness Award after being nominated by staff members and residents' families. Sponsored by Brakes, this award celebrates employees who bring joy and positivity while working to enhance the wellbeing of residents.

Claire was commended for her passion, positivity, and commitment to others. She champions important causes like Pride and Men’s Mental Health Awareness, supports both staff and residents as an Employee Representative, and continually develops her skills through Level 4 QCF training—all while creating an inclusive, caring environment where every voice is heard.

Claire’s dedication aligns perfectly with Shaw’s core values of Wellness, Happiness, and Kindness, creating a positive and supportive environment where residents feel valued and cared for.

On winning her award, Claire said: "I am truly honoured to receive this award and to be part of such an incredible team at Cartref Cleddau. This award is a reflection of the amazing support I receive from my colleagues and the families we care for.

“I'm passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and heard, and I’m grateful to be in a role where I can make a difference,” she added.

Claire was one of multiple award winners who were recognised at the event, which aims to celebrate the achievements of outstanding staff members across Shaw’s 63 UK facilities.

Russell Brown, CEO of Shaw healthcare, added: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 16th Shaw Star Awards, and once again, the number of nominations we received this year has been incredible. Each one tells an inspiring story of personal achievement and genuine care, and we are very fortunate to have such dedicated individuals as part of Shaw.

“As an employee-owned company, it’s important that we recognise and celebrate the Shaw family. I want to extend a huge congratulations to Tobi and all of our winners and nominees – each one exemplifies Shaw’s ethos of delivering the care we would want for our own loved ones.”
