A family has made generous donations to Glangwili Hospital’s Padarn Ward and Marie Curie, expressing gratitude for the care and support a family member received.

Doris, from Dryslwyn, sadly passed away at home on the 26th of February 2026, surrounded by love.

In her memory, family, friends and neighbours kindly donated the funds to Padarn Ward as a gesture of their gratitude for the wonderful care given to Doris and for the compassion and support shown to her husband of 60 years during a very difficult time.

The family have also made a donation to Marie Curie in appreciation of the care provided to Doris following her discharge from hospital.

On Doris’ birthday, the family visited Padarn Ward to say thank you in person and presented the cheque.

Nicola Llewellyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We are truly grateful to Mr. Hugh Davies and Mrs. Elin Harris, and to all their family, friends, and neighbours, for their kindness and generosity. This special donation in memory of Doris is a beautiful tribute that will be remembered and appreciated by many.

“The generous charitable donations we receive do not replace NHS funding. Instead, they support additional items and activities outside core NHS expenditure. These small extras make a big difference, and we are so grateful for every donation we receive.”
