STAFF at Quayside Care in Narberth have started a 15-week, 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path walk fundraiser for HOPE MS Therapy Centre in Neyland.
Sheena and Liz announced their plans last month: “Over the course of 15 weeks, some of us at Quayside Care are going to dedicate some time each week walking the entire Pembrokeshire Coast Path, totalling to 186 miles, to raise money for the incredible HOPE MS Therapy Centre based in Neyland.
“The centre is a charity offering physiotherapy sessions to many, some of which are individuals that we provide care and support to. Not only do they make a positive impact on individuals’ physical needs, they make a positive impact on emotional needs and well-being.
“The centre is a place of warmth, where everyone is welcome to come for a lovely cup of tea, coffee, cake and sometimes, some very tasty sausage rolls. The space is friendly, welcoming and everyone involved are kind, caring and do amazing work, keeping this space open and they deserve every penny that can be raised and deserve all of the support they can get.”
Originally set up as a Charity to support those with MS, the HOPE Therapy Centre now offers affordable and accessible Oxygen and Physio treatments to those who may have other neurological conditions. The Pembrokeshire charity receives no national funding.
Liz and Sheena added: “If anyone would like to join us on our walks, you don't have to join us on all them, or come and cheer us on, then please get in touch, and we will give you the details of where we will be.”
May 31 saw them completing the first bit of coast path: from St Dogmaels to Newport. That section of coast path was 15.5 miles, however, they ended up doing 21 miles owing to parking issues and having to walk further to the coast path.
“It was a very challenging bit of path, lots of hills, dangerous downhills, walking on the cliff edges,” said Sheena, “but the views were all worth the challenge.”
