Town councillors have asked that a guide to local health services for visitors to Tenby and Saundersfoot be more widely circulated. The 'triage and treat' service information leaflet came before councillors at their meeting on Tuesday night, with members suggesting that it would be useful for holidaymakers in the area. "This is important information that would be helpful if it was spread around to say camp sites and the like," commented Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas. Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter said it would also be useful if holiday letting agents in the town could hand it out to visitors when they picked up their keys. Clr. Mike Evans asked if the town clerk could make contact with the Cottage Hospital over the summer period to gather statistics from the Red Cross service on the volume of people they treated. "We could ask for the figures, as if we've got the numbers on people that have been treated at the facility, then we can't be lied to again," said Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown. Clr. Mrs. Thomas, who is also the secretary of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network (SEPCHN), also told her fellow members that she had put the question to the Community Health Council and the Hywel Dda Health Board, at a recent meeting, suggested by local AM Simon Thomas, that the CHC withdraws its support for the closure of the Tenby Minor Injuries Unit as the conditions initially laid down by them have not been met. "It was very interesting to note the response that they couldn't withdraw their support for the closure, as they hadn't given it in the first place, so I will pass the information on to Mr. Thomas," she said.
