Sir,

Visitors to Tenby sometimes get a bad press due to perceived or actual slobbish behaviour and are referred to locally as 'grockles'.

Therefore, I was delighted to see all the holiday families here last week, so well-behaved and jolly, enjoying the seaside in a traditional way. When I was out and about, I didn't witness any raucousness or anti-social behaviour.

And, of course, any prosperity that Tenby continues to enjoy despite the credit crunch owes to such tourism even, unfortunately, when undesirable holidaymakers descend on the town at other times.

Perhaps, whilst trying to control disorderly behaviour via its policing, Tenby ought not to 'bite the hand that feeds it' in verbal asides.

Ruthie Alton,

3 Islay Court,

Victoria Street,

Tenby.
