It was a time when our forebearers lit bonfires and cowered from the dark spirits of the night, when these head hunters sacrificed their trophy skulls to the gods and asked for the start of a new year.

A time when people believed that the spirit world came so close to their own that matters of love and death could most easily be determined and that loved ones could be rescued from the fairy worlds to which they had disappeared.

This was the Celtic New Year, Samhain, known today as Hallowe'en.

It is also the time of the year when you could brave the seasonal weather with a guided Ghost Walk of Tenby and discover some of the strange, spooky, magical and murderous aspects of Tenby's colourful past and follow that with a delicious culinary feast at The Mews Bistro.

For the sixth year running, The Mews Bistro and The Ghost Walk of Tenby have teamed up to provide an early Ghost walk at 6.30 pm, followed by a special gastronomic three course meal at 8 pm - available on October 30 and 31.
