THE president of the local branch of the Royal British Legion is aiming to break his Poppy Appeal collection total when he takes to the streets of Tenby tomorrow (Saturday), fundraising for the cause.

It will be a remarkable 63 years that Gordon Prime has embarked on a street collection for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal charity, emphasising the need to help all generations of the Armed Forces and their families - today and for the rest of their lives.

"I say every year that this will be my last one collecting, but here I am again this year, as it's such a worthy cause and funds are still badly needed to give financial support to our veterans and to those who are returning from duty today," he added.

Last year, Gordon raised a record £632.62 through donations for poppies and hopes that the generosity of the public will help him beat that total this year.
