CONGRATULATIONS to John and Maureen Archer, of 11 Bevelin Hall, Saundersfoot, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Friday.
The couple met back in Erdington, Birmingham, when John was a grocer and Maureen was a secretary.
They have lived in Saundersfoot for 14 years and "love the friendly atmosphere" of the area.
A party and reception were held at Redberth Lodge by the couple on October 4, with a meal and fireworks display, followed by drinks at their Saundersfoot home, where family and friends travelled from all over to join in their 50th anniversary celebrations.
"We held the reception on that date to coincide with my birthday and to make it easier for all the people to make it down, some of whom travelled nearly 300 miles," explained John.
Instead of receiving presents and gifts for the special occasion, John and Maureen kindly asked for donations to be made to the Wales Air Ambulance fund and raised a total of £285.
"We wanted to give something back to Wales and thought that this would be a fitting occasion to show our gratitude to all the people who have made us so welcome over the years," said John.
"A great time at the party was had by all and I would like to thank everyone who made donations to Wales Air Ambulance, which is such a worthy cause.
"Also thanks to the staff of Redberth Lodge for their hospitality and 'Griggles' for contributing the fireworks," he concluded.
The couple will soon be travelling on a cruise to Hawaii as a second honeymoon.
