A Tenby councillor has asked for further care to be taken when spraying weeds in the resort.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Trevor Hallett told his colleagues that there needed to be better control of the weed spraying maintenance carried out around the Jubilee area of the town, to help manage the wildflowers growing there and also to protect a colony of Mediterranean snails.
“There is unnecessary use of spraying for weeding in that area, and it has created a real mess. It needs to be carried out in a better manner,” he said.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, also chairman of Tenby in Bloom, said that she would have a word with the garden maintenance team, and see if there was a ‘gentler way’ of carrying out the work.
“It’s a sensitive subject, if people have complained about it, but there’s also complaints if the weeding isn’t carried out!” she said.
