A TENBY broadcaster and author last weekend met his best friend from school days whom he last saw 42 years ago.
Malcolm Stacey, from Crackwell Street, regained contact when his old chum, who inadvertently logged onto his website, Sharecrazy.com, a cut price trading site and message form for people who deal in stocks and shares.
The friend is Roy Mitchell, who under his pen name of 'Mitch' became one of Britain's top cartoonists. He also sings with the 'Cadillacs', a 50s rock 'n' roll group, well known in the North of England.
Roy, who now lives in Lancashire, logged onto Malcolm's website, Sharecrazy.com and was surprised to find his old pal was running the site from his living room in Crackwell Street, Tenby.
The two began e-mailing each other, and Roy is now one of the biggest investors in Sharecrazy. com which has millions of hits a week.
Said Malcolm: "It was a marvellous surprise to find Roy, who I remember as a really nice lad. He's been able to bring back a part of my life which I would love to have remembered, but couldn't.
"After we left school, I never saw or heard from him again. When he contacted me, I nearly fainted with shock."
He continued: "Roy said he'd often heard me on the radio and television, but had no idea how to contact me. Then he logged on, saw my name and we've been in contact ever since.
"When I saw him this weekend, I could tell it was him, though of course there's a huge difference between a schoolboy and someone in their late 50s.
"We've had a huge amount to talk about and having been swapping old photos. He went to junior school in Doncaster together and he's never been to Tenby before. But I expect to see him back again soon."
Roy, who also runs a unique internet school for budding cartoonists at http://www.cartoonacademy.co.uk">www.cartoonacademy.co.uk, said: "I never in my wildest dreams thought I would meet up with Malcolm ever again, but once we did the years just fell away and all the old school memories came flooding back.
"I was amazed at how young Malcolm still looks, but that is probably the healthy Tenby air!"
