Six stalwart couples braved the wind and rain on Friday evening in a 'Draw-for-Partners' game that started with Sam Ackermann as a way of getting to know club members many years ago.
Ladies' captain, Heather K. Morgan, assured everyone that the rain wouldn't last and was relieved when it stopped on the ninth and the sun even came out!
Hilary, the stewardess, kindly drew the bag draw, which was won by captain Idwal David and his golf partner Gill John.
There was a lovely atmosphere in the club as new friendships were forged after 14 holes of golf together.
There were two 2s on the 12th. One was by Laura McQueen and David Llewellyn, and the other by Heather Morgan and David Cope.
There was a scramble for second place, but with such a small field, it was decided to only do first and second.
Just pipped on the back four were Laura McQueen and Dave Llewellyn. So second were Anita Davies and Neil Webb with 26 points. First with 32 points were Heather Morgan and David Cope.
Many non-playing partners joined the players for the excellent meal afterwards. Thanks must go to the catering and bar staff for looking after everyone so well.
The Sam Ackermann Trophy is played for on Friday, June 19, at 4 pm. Again it is a draw for partners, so please sign up on the mixed board when you are next down. This is a Stableford played over 18 holes off the white tee boxes.
The next friendly Foursomes, off the yellow box over 14 holes, is on Friday, July 10.
