Final approval for the redevelopment of Tenby's Fountains Cafe was left in the hands of National Park officers this week.
The Park's development control committee heard on Wednesday that Messrs. Zeraschi and Servini were planning to redevelop the South Beach cafe into a cafe, restaurant, two retail shops and indoor play area, with six flats above.
Development control officer, Mrs. Cathy Milner, explained that similar schemes for the cafe had been approved by the Park in 1993 and 1997.
"All three schemes had had a similar mix of uses," she explained. "We have no problem with that.
"The previous two schemes were based on the original structure, but this new application is for its demolition and new build.
"It will make for a bigger footprint for the development, but we do not think it will be a problem if we get the design right," she continued.
Mrs. Milner told the meeting that on the current design "the two ends seem a little domestic" and asked for final approval of the plan to be delegated to officers once "improvements are made to make it a bit more beachy!"
