Something feared by some charities now is that people will stop giving as much as the recession hits home.
But that doesn't worry the organisers of Tenby's Christian Aid coffee morning on Saturday, October 18. They know that local people won't let down suffering families in the world.
The event is being held in Church House, in the grounds of St. Mary's Church in the town centre.
As well as coffee, tea and cakes, there will be a chance to buy Christmas cards and Fair Trade produce (ideal for Christmas presents).
For the last few years, Tenby has beaten its annual record for sending donations to poor and starving families in developing countries. The money goes to all those in need, not just Christians, and the charity is well known for making every penny count.
"We're confident that Tenby people will not cut back on their giving because of harder times at home," said Christian Aid committee member, Joy Griffiths.
"The coffee morning is a great social event, with everyone having a chance for a natter in really friendly surroundings. We expect people to forget the recession with a nice cuppa instead.
"We know everyone will make an even greater effort this year, because tough financial times hit the world's poor much harder than the rest of us."
The Christian Aid coffee morning on Saturday, October 18, begins at 10 am, though you can go along later on in the morning. Anyone too busy shopping to stay can leave a donation at the door - or deliver it to 9 Crackwell Street, Tenby.
