Narberth served up plenty of food glorious food at the weekend when the town staged its annual Food Festival. With a whole host of ingredients, including a bustling fair with stalls packed with some of the finest locally produced food and drink, informative cookery demonstrations, with local and celebrated chefs, plus tastings, talks and children's workshops, the sixth such event on Friday and Saturday proved another culinary success. And mixed in with these attractions were generous helpings of fun, with wild and wacky street entertainment and musical interludes, topped off with a live concert with the Bollywood Brass Band, Europe's first Indian brass band. Pembrokeshire College's international students cooked authentic dishes, while there was also a food quiz and a Real Ale Trail around participating public houses in the town. Said festival organiser, Jackie Palit: "The festival was really successful. We had over 3,000 people through the doors at the Queen's Hall. "We were really pleased as we had a lot of new attractions and stalls this year, all of which worked well and were enjoyed by festival-goers," she added. Winner of the luxury hamper prize draw was Mrs. A. Prichard, of Bridgend, who was staying at Kiln Park, Tenby, while winners of the best food themed shop window competition were 1. Prichard Cowburn Opticians; 2. NFU office; 3. Golden Sheaf Gallery. The Wendy Connelly memorial award for the best display stand at the food festival, meanwhile, was won by Andrew Rees Butchers.
