Following issues with faulty Christmas lights, Narberth Town Council is organising a public consultation to inform future festive lighting arrangements, after receiving feedback from locals.
At its Ordinary Meeting held on Tuesday, January 13, Narberth Town Council considered representations received regarding the Christmas lights installed during 2025.
The Town Council resolved that a public consultation will take place to inform future Christmas lights arrangements.
“Responsibility for planning and administering the consultation has been delegated to the Community, Events and Tourism Committee, which will begin this work at its meeting on January 27,” Narberth Town Council shared on social media.
“This will include agreeing the consultation format and timetable. In the interest of the prudent use of public funds, the Town Clerk has sought to acknowledge the representations received by email where contact details were provided.
“A number of email addresses were unavailable or unsuccessful, and not all signatories supplied contact details. This public notice is therefore issued to ensure that all interested parties are kept informed.
“Further details, including how and when residents and businesses will be able to take part, will be published once confirmed through the Council’s usual communication channels.
“Should any individual or organisation wish to submit further representations, these may be emailed to the Town Clerk or made as part of the public consultation once details have been published,” the Town Council added.
Over the festive period, the Town Council kept member of the public informed over issues surrounding the illuminations, with the cause of continued issues with some Christmas lights switching off unexpectedly, being identified as ongoing failure of timer extensions due to wet weather and water ingress.
It was agreed, following advice, that the affected lights would be set to remain illuminated continuously (24 hours a day) for the remainder of the festive period.
