Folly Farm at Begelly, one of Wales' premier family attractions, has increased its already bulging animal gang.
Alongside the many horses, ponies and donkeys already living at Folly Farm, Panda the pony has come to join them.
Panda has a sad history; he was rescued approximately 18 months ago having been abandoned by his previous owners. Luckily, someone found him in time and he was looked after and nursed back to health. He joined Folly Farm last week and has been making lots of new friends and enjoying plenty of attention.
Don Ruston, the guest services manager, said: "Panda is great fun; he is so friendly, and really enjoys all the attention from our guests."
Panda, however, is not the only new friend to move to Folly Farm. There is an animal with a difference. Folly Farm has recently given a home to three rheas. Rheas are a member of the ratite group of birds, like the ostrich and the emu, but they are much smaller in size.
Adam Goy, one of the farm workers, said: "It's nice because these rheas are quite tame, so you can actually get close to them, and they are really funny to watch, especially when they run, their body moves, but their head and neck stay still."
The rheas who live outside in the top paddocks, not far from Panda and some of the other horses and ponies, are enjoying their new home and seem to be settling in really well.
The only thing left for the rheas now is to be named. Over the Whitsun holiday, Folly Farm is holding a name the rheas competition. They want some original and fitting names for the two females and a male.
