Greenfingered locals are being asked to save a shrub to help Tenby enjoy further floral success.

The town's Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of Tenby In Bloom, has launched the 'recycle a shrub/tree' initiative along with Pembrokeshire County Council.

"The idea is for anyone who may be redesigning their own garden and have any shrubs, trees or ornamental grasses that they are disposing of to take them down to the civic amenity site at The Salterns where there will be a 'Tenby In Bloom' box that they can put them in," explained Clr. Mrs. Lane.

"The items will then be utilised by the county council's team of gardeners to replant in areas around the town and enhance Tenby itself and the town's chances of winning the Britain in Bloom competition," she continued.

Tenby once again enjoyed success in the Wales in Bloom competition last year by winning the title of best 'small country town' for the 25th time, while the resort has gone on to be nominated to represent Wales in the coastal category of this year's Britain in Bloom awards.

"Everyone did so well around the town last year for the Wales in Bloom competition and again we are asking for as much support as we can get for this new initiative to help the town enjoy further floral success," added Clr. Mrs. Lane.

The Tenby in Bloom box will be at the civic amenity site on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
