A Pembroke Dock man appeared in court this week faced with an allegation of cannabis possession.
Thirty-eight-year-old Alvin Demery, of Meyrick Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 3.6 grams of cannabis resin when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that police officers on foot patrol in the area on December 13, became aware of a noise from a flat.
“Officers heard aggressive coughing and thought that someone was in distress. They then smelt the cannabis from Mr. Demery’s flat,” she explained.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that the defendant led a semi-reclusive life as he suffered with severe depression and agoraphobia.
Magistrates fined Mr. Demery £120 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. A destruction order for the drugs was also made.
