A petition drawn up by Haverfordwest Borough Council calling for the Welsh Hospital Board to give top priority to establishing new hospital facilities at Withybush, was given full support by Tenby Borough Council.

Tenby’s Mayor, Alderman Ivor Crockford, travelled to Cardiff to attend the ceremony at which the Archbishop of Wales dedicated the Welsh National Book of Remembrance. The book was dedicated in the presence of the Queen Mother.

For the first time since the Cistercian monastery on Caldey Island was founded, an Anglican bishop paid an official visit to the island. He was Dr. John Richard Richards, Bishop of St. Davids, and he went at the invitation of the Abbot, the Rev. Dom Samson Wicksteed.

At a social evening held in East Willamston Hall, Miss Christine Bevan, Broadmoor, was chosen Carnival Queen 1966. Deputy Carnival Queen was Miss Carol Williams and attendants were Jane Davies, Betty Shanklin, Susan Shanklin, Dianne Herring.
