The Ministry of Housing and local Government gave Tenby Town Council the signal to proceed with the erection of houses on the new Marsh Road site. The announcement was described by Ald. P. R. Howells as 'sweet music' to the ears of the council and the large number of applicants on Tenby's housing list. The Marsh Road estate would consist of 107 dwellings, but Tenby's council houses would be different from the usual local authority types. The ministry considered that they would be larger and better finished and Ald. Howells suggested the Welsh Office was appreciative of Tenby's amenities and that its people were worthy of the best possible houses. Tenby Players' production of 'The Happy Marriage,' which had brought the company four festival firsts, was defeated for the first time at the Penclawdd Welfare Associations ninth annual festival. Rugby: Llangwm 3 pts. Tenby nil. A 45-yard sprint by Llangwm left-winger Richard Palmer five minutes from the end of a hard-fought game brought a spectacular try, which earned Llangwm a victory they just about deserved, and virtually put an end to the United's championship hopes. One of Tenby's best rugger discoveries of the post-war years, Roy Powling, left the town to commence his National Service with the RAF at Cardington. Soccer: Manorbier United 0 RN Mine Depot 0. Two sets of newly-painted goalposts were used for the first time. The posts were kindly loaned by the club's near neighbours and friendly rivals SAAA, as a temporary replacement for the ones so badly damaged in the hurricane. Could it be assumed that the new posts completely mesmerised both sets of forwards? How else could one explain the absolutely atrocious shooting by both teams? Especially as when they last met some nine weeks previously, no fewer than 11 goals were scored. Wedding: December 31 - Mr. Brian Devonald Thomas (Clunderwen) and Miss Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Hughes (Redberth). Expenditure on the health services in Pembrokeshire, as administered by the county council, was estimated at £95,181 for 1955/56. Showing at the South Beach Pavilion: Barry Sullivan, Luther Adler and Adele Jergens in 'The Miami Story.' At the Royal Playhouse Cinema: 'The Belles of St. Trinians'.
