Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is inviting people to a Firefighter Experience Day this June in Haverfordwest.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for providing emergency response cover to nearly 12,000 square kilometres - almost two-thirds of Wales.

On-Call Firefighters are a vital part of the Service and our communities. Around 75% of Fire Stations are crewed entirely by On-Call Firefighters.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a Firefighter, the Experience Days are a friendly, no-pressure way to find out more before you apply.

On the day, you’ll be able to try on firefighting kit, learn how to assemble equipment, and take part in a practical exercise.

Crews from Haverfordwest will be there to answer your questions and share what life as a Firefighter is really like.

What you will learn:

  • A quick overview of the modern Firefighter role
  • Trying on firefighting kit and getting hands-on with equipment
  • What to expect from the recruitment process
  • Fitness: what we look for and how to maintain it
  • The different types of equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Career pathways and role maps
