Excitement is building ahead of the Pembrokeshire Duathlon, sponsored by Dragon LNG, which is taking place at Neyland on Sunday, March 29. The event is hosting the Welsh Duathlon Championships and is also the first event in the Welsh Grand Prix Series 2009. The event is organised by Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, and consists of a 5k run, 22k bike, and a 2.5k run.

The race limit of 120 has already been reached and entries have now closed. The race will see a mixture of top athletes from across Wales, in age-groups ranging from youth and junior (15-19) up to vintage veteran (60+!), competing against fun competitors who are just looking to get around and complete their first duathlon.

A number of relay teams are taking part, and the organisers are holding their breath to see if anyone will take up the fancy dress challenge, which last year was won by Bananaman!

The nominated charity for the event is Adam's Bucketful of Hope Appeal (http://www.bucketfulofhope.co.uk">www.bucketfulofhope.co.uk). The event gets underway at 8.30 at Brunel Quay, with the winner expected to finish in just over an hour, and the last competitor expected to finish nearly an hour later.

Spectators can watch the action anywhere on the course (which can be viewed at http://www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk/events.htm">www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk/events.htm), with the best of the action taking place in and around Neyland Yacht Club.
