Mid and West Wales Helen Mary Jones has hit out at the Labour led Welsh Assembly Government over how excessive business rates in Tenby are bringing the town to its knees. Ms. Jones attended a meeting organised by local Plaid Cymru councillor Mike Williams to hear local business people's concerns. Llanelli-based Ms Jones said: "These business rates are bringing the town of Tenby to its knees. Some people have seen their business rates go up by over 100 per cent, one gentleman had said that his had gone up 520 per cent which is shocking. "I was told in the meeting that businesses are forced to cut labour and some are even closing down. I sometimes wonder if the Government actually knows that there is anything west of Swansea. If the Labour Government does not act soon, Tenby will become a ghost town which will be a devastating to the town, the county and the economy of West Wales."

Assembly candidate John Dixon, AM for Mid and West Wales Helen Mary Jones, and local councillor Mike Williams.
