One of European rugby's most prolific try scorers is now turning his hand to coaching - and young players from Tenby are among those benefiting in his work with the new Scarlets Pre-Academy Group.
Scarlets, Wales and British Lions wing Dafydd James has scored more Heineken Cup touchdowns than any other player and now he's passing on the tricks of his trade.
He is one of the skills coaches on board with the Scarlets Pre-Academy Group, which features some of the brightest West Wales schoolboy rugby talent.
The group will nurture the talent of a small number of boys aged 14-16 picked from around the region. Training centres have been set up at Parc y Scarlets and Haverfordwest and the boys will attend weekly hour-long sessions with specially chosen high-calibre skills coaches. Already on board with James is former Llanelli RFC captain Ioan Cunningham.
James said: "I've really enjoyed getting involved with coaching for the first time. I'm determined to give something back to the game that has given me so much."
The Scarlets Pre-Academy Group is being masterminded by the region's head of regional development and recruitment - and former Wales head coach - Gareth Jenkins.
He said: "One of my responsibilities is to create a development programme that will help to develop future Scarlets players.
"One initiative that will help this become reality is the Scarlets Pre-Academy Group which will help guide young players towards the Region's Academy.
"I believe it's vital that our rugby communities at all levels are given the best possible opportunity to thrive. As a region we need a thriving town and village rugby culture, so I urge everybody to keep supporting their local clubs."
