SMALL World Theatre will present an exceptional evening of live Americana music on Saturday, July 18, welcoming acclaimed Californian singer-songwriter Marty O'Reilly and rising New York-based folk artist Lily Talmers.
This double bill brings together two distinctive voices from the contemporary American roots scene for what looks to be an unforgettable night of storytelling, soulful musicianship and powerful live performance.
Marty O'Reilly has a reputation for emotionally charged performances that blur the lines between folk, blues, gospel and Americana. His music feels timeless. With a raw, soulful voice and gritty guitar playing, Marty draws inspiration from folk icons such as Woody Guthrie, blues legend Howlin' Wolf, gospel pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe and the evocative songwriting of Tom Waits. His live shows are renowned for their emotional intensity.

Joining him for her Small World debut is Lily Talmers, one of the most exciting emerging voices in American folk music. Born in Michigan and now based in New York City, Lily arrives in the UK following an appearance at Maverick Festival before continuing to headline dates across mainland Europe.
Lily's songs are rich with vivid, poetic imagery, blending spirituality, humour and emotional depth. She has earned praise from NPR, No Depression, Under the Radar and The Bluegrass Situation, won the Kerrville Folk Festival's prestigious 2024 New Folk Competition, and has shared stages with Tommy Emmanuel, The Brother Brothers and Anna Tivel.
A spokesperson for the Cardigan-based Small World Theatre said:
“We're thrilled to welcome Marty back to Small World Theatre. He has built a real connection with audiences here over the years, and we’re equally excited to introduce Lily Talmers to Welsh audiences for the first time. Together they offer two unique perspectives on contemporary Americana and folk music, making this one of the standout concerts in our summer programme.”
