Local author Claire Back is celebrating the Pembrokeshire launch of her debut crime novel ‘A Deadly Summer’ at Chapter One Bookshop in Narberth next month.
At the event, to be held on Thursday, July 2 at 2pm, the author will be reading from her new novel and be in conversation with Lorna, the bookshop's manager, about the novel and the joys and perils of writing crime fiction.
Set in the fictional Pembrokeshire town of Penroth between 2015 and 1984, A Deadly Summer is a female led crime mystery exploring buried trauma, lifelong guilt, and the desire to protect those we love.Louise Minchin called it 'A fabulous debut with a brilliant twisty ending'.
A derelict hotel. A hidden body. A girl who has not been missed. Detective Nia Tremeyrick’s investigation into the death of a teenage girl is interwoven with the backstory of the victim and her friends enjoying a last summer of freedom before the start of their adult lives.
Claire Back was born and raised in Pembrokeshire. With generations of local farmers, sailors and fishermen in her family tree, she has always felt a deep connection to this part of the Welsh coast, and although she now lives in North Wales, Pembrokeshire will forever be considered “home”.
So join Chapter One and Claire Back for the Pembrokeshire launch of her crime novel, A Deadly Summer and help celebrate with tea (or coffee) and cake plus 10% off a signed copy of the book.
Tickets are £5 and can be booked via the Chapter One website at: narberthmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/
