CELEBRATE World Refugee Day at Pembroke Town Hall on Saturday, June 20 with short films, world music, poetry, facts and figures, tea, cake and chat.
Everyone is welcome to drop in between 11am and 3pm to celebrate the contributions of people seeking sanctuary.
Proudly part of Refugee Week 2026, the event aims to build a greater understanding of why people become displaced and the challenges they face.
The event doubles as a (little) Film Festival, with repeated showings of five short films exploring themes of displacement, migration, belonging and community. Each film - Migrants (2020, 8 minutes, U), Hayat (2019, 14 minutes, U), Tskatulbo (2023, 24 minutes, U), Aziza (2019, 13 minutes, PG) and Infancia Desterrada (2022, 16 minutes, 12+) invite reflection, conversation and connection.
There will be a short break between each film for conversation and refreshment.
The day is about encouraging a world where people seeking sanctuary can live safely and realise their full potential, and where migration is recognised as part of everyone’s shared story.
