Open-air theatre returns to Carew Castle on Jul 29 and August 5 with performances of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the much-loved family musical The Wind in the Willows.
The first performance takes place on Tuesday, July 29, when The Tempest brings Shakespeare’s most spellbinding tale of magic, mayhem, romance and revenge to life. Presented by Immersion Theatre, this high-energy production is packed with audience participation and is ideal for both seasoned theatre-goers and newcomers to Shakespeare’s work.

The Wind in the Willows takes to the stage the following week, on Tuesday, August 5. This lively family musical follows Ratty, Mole, Badger and the irrepressible Mr Toad on a riverside adventure full of mischief, music and larger-than-life characters.
Visitors are advised to bring a rug or low-backed chair. Picnics are welcome, and hot drinks and ice creams will be available. Performances will go ahead in wet weather, so warm, waterproof clothing is recommended – along with a torch.

Daisy Hughes, Manager of Carew Castle, said: “Open-air theatre is one of the highlights of the summer at Carew. The setting speaks for itself, but it’s the combination of location, performance and atmosphere that makes these events stand out. They offer something different – not just for audiences, but for everyone involved in bringing them to life.”
