A FREE annual Carnival celebration on July 4 will kickstart the holiday season, with more festival-fun at the Milford Waterfront Weekender in August. Other activities include outdoor, sunset cinema screenings and free activities for 11–17-year-olds.

Hosted by Milford Haven Round Table, the annual Carnival on July 4 offers a spectacular day of family-friendly entertainment. Starting at Waterloo Square, the colourful parade of creatively decorated floats will travel along Hakin Bridge, Hamilton Terrace, and Charles Street, before arriving at Milford Waterfront. Here, revellers can enjoy live music, a variety of food and drink offerings and browse the pop-up stalls, plus enjoy a funfair and family focused entertainment from 1pm to 5pm.

For those keen to continue into the evening, the Lord Nelson Hotel, together with Westpresents, is hosting a Carnival afterparty from 3pm to 11pm. This free afterparty event will feature a main stage with live performances, an outdoor bar, a dedicated face painter, and a large LED screen provided by TCW Productions.

Taking place on Mackerel Quay, from midday and into the evening across three days in August, the Milford Waterfront Weekender (August 14-16) will offer a vibrant mix of street food from Pembrokeshire and Southwest Wales, plus live music all set against the beautiful waterfront backdrop.

In association with the Torch Theatre, there will be three outdoor screenings this summer including Finding Nemo (arrive 1.30pm) and Back to the Future (arrive from 6pm) on the July 17 and The Greatest Showman on August 21 (arrive from 6pm). Offering the perfect alfresco cinema experience, the screenings will take place on Mackerel Quay.

And between 6pm and 8pm every Tuesday and Friday from July 21 to August 28, Under the Bridge offers children aged 11-17yrs the chance to participate in a range of free activities including arts, music and sports activities, plus inflatable games.

Alongside the events, throughout the school holidays, visitors can step back in time at Milford Haven Museum and discover the area’s fascinating maritime heritage. Plus, for a chance to get on the water themselves, Milford Beach Activity Centre has SUP or kayak hire and guided tours of the waterway.

Indoor action includes a series of free exhibitions at the nationally acclaimed Waterfront Gallery, while Phoenix Bowl will be full of fun with ten pin bowling, indoor play, and some themed events, too.

Stay: Right in the heart of the action, this summer kids stay for free at Pembrokeshire’s Tŷ Hotel, overlooking the marina, when sharing a family room with their parents.
