Following its involvement in the landmark 40th anniversary Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim, Pembrokeshire-based Barti Rum is returning for 2027, continuing its support for one of Wales' best-loved festive traditions.

The multi-award-winning drinks producer will once again be supporting the event, this time sponsoring the official medal lanyards and lending its distinctive branding to a specially designed Barti-inspired medal, which doubles as a bottle opener.

The 41st Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim takes place on Friday, January 1, 2027 at 2pm, when thousands of participants are expected to descend on Saundersfoot beach for the UK's largest festive dip.

The event has become famous for its colourful fancy dress, lively atmosphere and extraordinary community spirit.

This year's theme ‘Music Legends‘ invites participants to dress as their favourite musical icons, with prizes for the best individual and group costumes.

Barti's involvement follows another successful year for the Pembrokeshire drinks producer. Its Barti & Sea Buckthorn Fizz ready-to-drink cocktail recently won Category Champion in the Alcoholic Drinks category at The Grocer New Product Awards 2026, adding to the company's growing collection of awards and accolades.

Visitors will also be pleased to hear that the Barti Bar will be returning to the Strand on New Year's Day, selling drinks to revellers following the swim and adding to the celebrations in the village.

Adding a splash of Barti Country to the celebrations, the Barti boat will also be making an appearance at Saundersfoot, bringing a little more Pembrokeshire character to the New Year's Day festivities.

Francesca Barnikel from Barti Rum said:"There's something wonderfully bonkers about thousands of people in fancy dress running into the freezing Pembrokeshire sea on New Year's Day, and we absolutely love being part of it.

“Saundersfoot is everything we love about this corner of the world, the sea, the people and a community coming together for a good cause. We'll be bringing the Barti boat down this year and joining in the celebrations. I'll even be taking the plunge myself this year, can't wait! After all, what better way to start the year than a dip in the sea and a Barti!"

At the 2026 event, Barti helped mark the swim's 40th anniversary by providing thousands of complimentary post-swim drinks, including non-alcoholic refreshments for younger participants. Its involvement proved popular with swimmers and spectators alike, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the milestone event.

The 2026 swim attracted a record 3,323 registered participants and raised more than £31,000 for charities and good causes, continuing a remarkable fundraising tradition that has now generated over £800,000 since the event began.

For 2027, the Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim will once again support local charities and community organisations, including the Paul Sartori Foundation and RVS Pembrokeshire Country Cars.

Registration for the 41st Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim is now open.
