Congratulations to young local footballer Elliot Scotcher who on Wednesday made a trip to the Welsh capital to sign for Cardiff City FC. Ten-year-old Elliot, of Serpentine Road, Tenby, who plays in central midfield, has signed a year by year contract with the club, where he will train twice a week at the academy, playing a match every Sunday. The midfield maestro, who turns 11 in March, attended the Cardiff City development centre in Carmarthen for three years, before being sent for a six-week trial at Cardiff's academy. During the trial, Elliot impressesd coaches while playing in matches against Reading, Swindon and Cheltenham. He has trained under the guidance of Cardiff City's Under 11s coach Chris Ingram and their Academy manager Matthew Crocker. Some of the exciting soccer fixtures Elliot will be looking forward to competing in this season will be at home to Aston Villa and Birmingham and most eye-catching of all, away to the mighty Chelsea.
