Pembrokeshire County Council chairman Clr. Paul Harries attended the official opening of phase two of Tenby’s St. Teilo’s Catholic School ‘Play for Life’ project recently.

The Play for Life project aims to improve the playground environment of the school to allow pupils to be curious and inventive in their play.

The first phase developed the Early Years/Infant playground.

Over £25,000 was raised in three years by the ‘Friends’ of St. Teilo’s School through a combination of fundraising events and sponsorship by local businesses to fund the project.

It’s the first time the playground has been updated for 60 years.

“This is a truly wonderful resource,” said the school’s headteacher Mrs. Angela Nicholls.

“In under three years, the Friends of St. Teilo’s have raised over £25,000 which has paid for new equipment in the infants outdoor area, created a wildlife garden and now this fantastic trim trail in the junior playground.

“These are invaluable to the school and as well as being great fun for the children will help improve their health and fitness.”

Clr. Harries added.

“Congratulations to everyone who helped raise the money to create this superb facility for the children of St. Teilo’s.

“They may be the smallest school in Tenby but they have shown they have a huge amount of spirit and that can only be of benefit for the school.”
