IN collaboration with The Book Stop and supported by Penguin and Hodder, ‘This is Your Story’ Literary Festival last Tuesday at Pembrokeshire College saw £2,000 worth of books gifted to learners on Built Environment courses, while many more pre-loved books found loving new homes. Two brilliant authors delivered inspiring talks, and learners enjoyed a range of challenges with exciting prizes.
It was an inspiring day at the college on October 20, celebrating the joy of reading and the transformational power of literature!

Learners even had the chance to win Beats headphones to enjoy the latest audiobooks!
The talks from visiting authors inspired learners to rediscover the magic of reading and the stories waiting to be explored.
Thanks go to Peniarth, Haverfordwest Library, The Book Stop, Penguin and Hodder, the visiting authors, the Mayor and Sheriff of Haverfordwest, Cllrs Randell Thomas-Turner and Dani Thomas-Turner for delivering an inspiring talk and to everyone who helped make the festival such a success.
Mayor Cllr Randell Thomas-Turner said it was “a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the power of reading, the importance of education and the opportunities it can open up for our young people”.
He continued: “It was great to meet author Richard Williams and have the opportunity to speak with him. It’s always a pleasure to meet people who share a passion for books, storytelling and inspiring others.

“One of the highlights for me was seeing the college’s robotics students in action! They were busy competing, and it was brilliant to stop, have a chat and see the skills, creativity and enthusiasm they are putting into their work.”
The mayor said the festival was “a wonderful reminder that education is about so much more than what happens in a classroom.”
“It’s about building confidence, discovering new interests, developing skills and giving young people the belief that they can achieve great things,” he added.
