A FAMILY-friendly club catering for all abilities, Pembrokeshire Chess Club is highlighting two of its junior players.
Owain Hooper
Owain is 13 years old and having been part of Pembrokeshire Chess Club for 10 months, he is enjoying learning new strategies. His favourite chess opening is the Italian Game. It was great to see him step up and play in the recent DAPA Under 1500 competition.
When not playing chess, Owain is a keen Scout and hopes to become a young leader shortly. He also loves football, Marvel and wrestling. As for the future Owain hopes to travel the world and see Wales play football live!
Harry Harling
Harry on the other hand has been with the club for three and half years. He loves the game and takes his time in matches and has developed into a very accomplished player. He plays in various tournaments both locally and further afield. A member of the recently established Pembrokeshire academy, he takes on board advice, be it there or on club training sessions; he loves to learn and develop. Outside of chess, he likes gaming and the occasional game of golf.
Pembrokeshire Chess Club is based at Steynton, near Milford Haven. Whether you are interested in friendly matches on a club night or League and competition chess with a dedicated training session each week, you are invited to contact Martin on 07884 384131.
