The County Council’s Choice Homes @ Pembrokeshire Housing Register has reopened to new applications from today (October 28), allowing households seeking social housing in Pembrokeshire to apply for housing assistance.
The register had been temporarily closed while preparations were being made for the introduction of a revised Housing Allocation Policy.
However, following the decision to delay implementation of the new policy, the Housing Register has now reopened to ensure new applicants can continue to access social housing opportunities and are not disadvantaged whilst work on the revised policy continues.
Applications received during this period will be assessed under the current Housing Allocation Policy, ensuring that applicants with an identified housing need can continue to join the register and be considered for available housing opportunities.
How the Register Will Operate
New applicants can now submit an application to join the Housing Register by visiting www.choicehomespembrokeshire.org/
Applications will continue to be assessed using the current eligibility criteria and priority banding system, with housing need remaining the primary factor in determining priority for social housing.
Applicants who have already completed their reapplication do not need to take any further action unless their circumstances have changed or additional information is requested.
Property Allocations
The weekly Choice Homes property advert will remain temporarily suspended.
Available social housing properties will continue to be allocated directly to eligible applicants using existing shortlists. Suitable applicants will be identified and contacted directly, meaning there is currently no requirement to bid on advertised properties.
This temporary arrangement ensures homes continue to be allocated while preparations for future changes to the Housing Allocation Policy continue.
Applicants are encouraged to review their preferred letting areas to ensure they remain accurate and up to date.
Supporting Applicants
Supporting applicants remains a key priority throughout this transition.
Housing Services continues to provide support to applicants through a range of communication channels to ensure they understand how the Housing Register is operating and any actions they may need to take.
Particular attention is being given to applicants who may face barriers to engagement, including vulnerable households and those at risk of digital exclusion.
The Council remains committed to ensuring applicants can access the support they need to remain active on the Housing Register and be considered for suitable housing opportunities.
Anyone requiring assistance with a new application, updating their details or discussing their housing circumstances can contact the Housing Team at [email protected] or on 01437 776603.
