A group of students ranging from years 7 to 11 from Tenby’s Greenhill School took part in the FIRST® Tech Challenge UK tournament run by FIRST® Tech Challenge UK.

They came away as the coveted Judges Award Winners and with the Finalist Alliance Award, following their association with Dyffryn Taf.

The team has been holding weekly meetings since September, during which time they have designed, built and programmed a robot to take on a global challenge.

They have each relished the experience, and are excitedly looking forward to the next stage, where they will attend London’s Copper Box Arena in March.

Here they will compete to represent the UK in the world championship in May, held in the USA, alongside 40,000 young people from 100 countries.

The school is exceptionally proud of them and wishes them every success in the next round.

Huge thanks go to Ian, the team mentor from Mechanical Cat who has been supporting them voluntarily along the way; Technocamps, who provided the kit, and Friends of Greenhill and Milford Haven Port Authority, who sponsored the hoodies.

Good luck in the next round everyone! More information about the event can be found here: https://www.firstuk.org/south-west-regional-winners-2019-20/
