A well known doorman who has patrolled some of Pembrokeshire’s most popular public houses and clubs for over 40 years has hung up his bouncer’s badge.

Sixty-one-year-old John Grover a native of Jameston has ‘worked the doors’ at such places as Tenby House Hotel in the centre of the seaside town and the the former Night Owl club on the outskirts in penally for the past forty plus years, but has now decided to retire from the role, and put his time into co-running his gardening business with his son Tom.

“John has been looking after the Tenby community for years and on the doors and deserves all the recognition he can get,” said Tom’s partner Lauren.

“I think a lot of the Tenby community and surrounding area would like to thank John, along with Dai and Phil who have also retired from Tenby House for keeping the town safe for all these years, especially with how busy it can be during the holidays.

“John could write a book with all of the stories that he has told I’m sure!” she added.
